Speaker Spotlight
Dr. Jason K. Allen
Sermon
Elected on October 15, 2012, Dr. Jason K. Allen serves as the fifth president of Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, in Kansas City, MO. Since coming to Midwestern Seminary, he has led the institution to become one of the largest and fastest growing seminaries in North America. In addition to his role as President, Dr. Allen serves the institution in the classroom as professor for preaching and pastoral ministry.
More broadly, Dr. Allen also serves the church through his preaching and writing ministries. Before coming to Midwestern Seminary, he pastored two churches in Kentucky, and has been interim pastor of numerous others. He currently serves as the teaching pastor at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Overland Park, KS.
Dr. Allen has authored, edited, or contributed to more than a dozen books, including the The SBC & the 21st Century (B&H Publishing), Discerning Your Call to Ministry (Moody Publishing), Being a Christian (B&H Publishing), Succeeding at Seminary (Moody Publishing), Letters to My Students Vol. I and II (B&H Publishing), and, most recently, Turnaround (B&H Publishing).
Dr. Allen posts essays on his website, jasonkallen.com, and hosts a weekly podcast, “Preaching & Preachers,” which can also be found at jasonkallen.com. Before coming to Midwestern Seminary, Dr. Allen served as a senior administrator at Southern Seminary in Louisville, KS, where he also completed the Master of Divinity and PhD degrees.
He and his wife, Karen, are both from Mobile, AL, and have five children: Anne-Marie, Caroline, William, Alden, and Elizabeth.
Dr. Jeff Iorg
Sermon
Dr. Jeff Iorg serves as the President of the Executive Committee of the Southern Baptist Convention. In that role, he facilitates the work of the SBC and its entities. One of his most important roles is managing the distribution of more than $190 million in Cooperative Program funds given by churches to support global ministry and mission initiatives.
Prior to his current role, Dr. Iorg served as president of Gateway Seminary for 20 years and as Executive Director of the Northwest Baptist Convention for 10 years. Before that, he was a pastor and church planter.
Dr. Iorg is married to Ann, has three adult children, and five grandchildren.
Dr. Larry Lewis
President’s Sermon
Dr. Larry Lewis has served as Senior Pastor at Vann Ave. Baptist Church in Evansville, Indiana since August of 2014. Prior to his call to VABC, he served at four other churches across Illinois and Kentucky. Dr. Lewis earned his Bachelor of Science in Business and Marketing with a minor in Accounting from Southern Illinois University. He earned both his Master of Divinity and Doctor of Ministry degrees at Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.
Presently Dr. Lewis serves as President of SCBI. He also currently serves as a trustee of Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. In the past he has served as moderator in Southwestern Association of In. as well as associations in Illinois and Kentucky. He also served on the Board for the Kentucky Baptist Convention.
Dr. Lewis is married to Cyndi and together they have three grown daughters who are all married, as well as four grandchildren.
Mitchell Tabla
2026 Annual Sermon Speaker
Mitchell Tabla has been serving VBC as pastor since August of 2020. Mitchell married the love of his life, Kelly, in April of 2016. Mitchell & Kelly cherish their two little girls, Hannah & Grace. Mitchell is a graduate of Purdue University, receiving his first degree in the school of management. He also finished his studies at the Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, IL, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Biblical Studies. Beyond school, Mitchell’s largest passion is ministry. He has served within the local church for years, leading in ministries such as Youth Ministry, Young Adult Ministry, Senior Adult Ministry, Various Bible Studies, Missions Coordinator, and Preaching God’s Word. Outside of the church, Mitchell enjoys spending time with his family, the performing arts, bowling, golf, and most of all, enjoying quality time with others.
Worship Music
Michael Wright & Harvest Worship
Michael Wright is the Worship Pastor at Harvest Church in Carmel, Indiana, where he leads a team devoted to crafting worship environments that are rooted in Scripture, centered on the finished work of Christ, and guided by the presence and power of the Holy Spirit. His heart is to help people see and savor Jesus through song and Scripture. He and his wife, Joy, are raising their children, Lucy and Landon, and love serving the local church together.
