SCBI Pastors’ Day at the Statehouse

SCBI works hard to connect over 400 local churches for kingdom advancement, and we are always looking for new opportunities to help our churches flourish in community and on mission. With that goal in mind, we are excited to announce a new ministry opportunity for Southern Baptist pastors across the state to come to the Indiana statehouse to meet with and pray with their state legislators.

We are commanded to pray for our governing officials (I Tim. 2:1-2), but it is difficult to do that effectively if we do not know who those officials are or how to pray for them. Some of you may know about the Church Ambassador Network, a ministry affiliated with Focus on the Family. This nonpartisan effort is led by Josh Hershberger and works to build relationships between pastors and governing officials for the purpose of (1) ministering to them and (2) partnering with them for the common good. Over the last few years, they have hosted over 400 meeting between pastors and state officials and have built relationships with all three branches of state government.

On April 10, 2025, we will be hosting the first SCBI Pastors’ Day at the Indiana State Capitol. SCBI Director Ryan Strother will be attending and invites you to join other pastors at the statehouse for a time of fellowship and ministry. The Pastors’ Day will include:

·      An opportunity to meet and pray with state representative and senators.
·      An opportunity to meet with the Lt. Governor or a member of his staff to explain a new initiative on foster care.
·      A tour of the Indiana statehouse originally built in 1888, including the numerous religious elements in the rotunda and chapel.
·      An overview of the legislative process and key bills currently pending at the state level.
·      A time of fellowship with other Southern Baptist pastors.
